QuestionI recently bought a blue hydranger. I've been getting conflicting answers. Please help.
Do I fertilize this plan? Does it need acid in the sole or alkaline? At the end of summer do I cut the plant down, if so how far?
AnswerYou can fertilize a Hydrangea, but its not really necessary if you have a planter bed with moderately fertile soil. Its a tough plant, and doesn't require lots of "fuss". Here is a link with some other suggestions:

Each region is different, and "winterizing" methods will vary. I grew up in Southern Califonia, so there you did nothing to it, except maybe prune it to the desired shape. In the northern reaches, you may have to insulate it over the winter with a layer of straw...
