QuestionHello
We have just moved to the mountains and have found a lot of 2 acres to build a house. The top area is flat and then starts to slope down with many huge evergreens and other trees. Still farther down is the highway. From the flat part where we would build we can here the highway especailly in places where you can see right down to it and the highway curves. I know plants can only do so much. We thought maybe making a rock wall since we have easy access to rock. Would it make a difference? Do you have any other suggestions for a wall or other trees? Thanks kindly Michelle
AnswerMichelle,
A rock wall sound fantastic and would be a great noise barrier, but there are several drawbacks. It would have to be done strictly by a professional with years of experience and the right kind of stone, flat or at least the right equipment to cut it into the correct shape. it would also have to be tall to blockout noise.
If I were you I would look into getting a professional stone layer to give you an estimate. Go to www.google.com and type in local stone layers or masons to find one.
Or you could fill in those bare areas with some fast growing evrgreens that grow ell in your area. Check with a reputable nursery and landscaping center in your area.
Good luck on your new home!!!!
