Hi,
I have a Ranch home with rock around it, and I would like to replace it with bark.  What is the easiest way to do this?  Someone suggested taking some of the rock and putting it up against the house for drainage and covering the rest with weed cover and then bark.  What would you suggest?  Also, do you know where I could get rid of the rock?

Be prepared to roll up your sleeves.

You need to remove all of the rock if you want to have a wood mulch instead.  And do not push some of it up against the house.  After the rock is out use a product like Preen to block weeds before putting the wood mulch in.  Don't use a weed barrier as these block weeds from beneath but do nothing for the weed seed that will germinate on top.  

As far as getting rid of the rock, why don't you find a neighbor that could use it and give it to them if they would come and remove it.  This is much easier on the back.
