Residential Landscaping w/a fountain

Hi Laura -

We moved from Kansas to Copley, OH and built a new home Sept 2004.  We will be landscaping this spring and am looking for advice.  Our house faces NE and will receive a lot of sun (according to the neighbors). We have an area between our garage and front porch that is approximately 15 x 11.  We have purchased a fountain (4' tall) that we would like to put in this area, but are undecided on what else to put there as to help accent the fountain.  There is also an oval window up against the house that is only 4 feet from the ground that we would prefer not to cover up.  We also plan to use landscape lighting.  Any advice would be helpful.  I would send pictures of the house and fountain, but am not able to attach them.  Our house has a brick front and we were looking for something probably "formal".  Sorry this is confusing.  Thanks for your help -
Michele.

Michelle,
If you have a digital camera all you need to do is hook it into your computer with an input cord that usually comes with the camera. If you have a photo shop or any sort of software like I have Kodak, which came  with my camera, all you do is download the photos onto the computer. They go into a folder (mine is Kodak) and then when you are writing an email message it will say "attach file" at the top of the email box.You click that and it will bring up all your photos and you just click on a photo and it automatically attaches to your email message.

But if you can't do that or don't have the devices to do that,a description is all we can work with.Just answer a few questions for me so I can get an idea of what the area looks like.

What does the fountain look like? Is it a formal or fancy style with several teirs,or just a plain style with one teir(or bowl)? Does it have a figure on it like an angel or some sort of figure? What is it made of? Stone, lightweight resin, terra cotta or something else? Does it have a pump and cords that you will have to run into an electrical outlet or is it solar powered?
Is the oval window going to be directly behind the fountain?
Already this sounds beautiful! I am envious of people with new homes and starting their landscaping from scratch!
But I also know how overwhelming the whole idea can be if you don't take it one step at a time.
Have you hired a professional landscaper or is this going to be a do it yourself project?
Have you determined the design of the whole landscape surrounding your house yet or just focusing on the focal point of the fountain?
Just write me back and I will try and help you with a few pointers.

Laura -

I have the pictures saved in a folder from my digital as you suggested, however, my response to you is through this web site and does not have a way to attach pictures ( or am I missing something )?  It would be much easier if I could get a few pictures to you.

The fountain is somewhat European - a pedestal that has an urn on top, it is concrete, has a pump and will need to be plugged in.  We would like to have just a design, and do all the work ourselves.  We are looking at landscaping the front of the house. which includes the other side of the porch under our front windows (which are only a few feet off the ground).  The fountain will be placed closer to the curve in the sidewalk up front, so it is more visible from the street since we live in a culdesac.  The oval window is approximately 10' behind and to the right of the fountain.

If there is a way I can get pictures to you, I will certainly do so - I think it would be a lot easier...

Thanks so much -
Michele.

Michele,
Do you have an input cord or dock that you attach from your camera into your computer?

What email program do you use? AOL,MSN,Hotmail,Yahoo, etc.
Any email service or internet provider will have something at the top that says "attach file" or "share photos" or something like that.
