QuestionHi Carlo -
I have a questions about the prepeartion of the base for a quartz pebble garden. From what i can see this is likely to be similar to a proper Zen garden so i was hoping you might be able to give me some ideas.
We are removing some lawn (15 square meters in total, under a washing line) and replacing it with small ~7mm diameter quartz rocks. What kind of base should we use? we have removeed dirt to 4 inches and flattened it -
should we add sand?
to what depth?
should we use a compactor to compact the sand?
Any ideas are much appreciated.
thank you for time.
AnswerThe best thing to do is to compact the ground and then add something we call landscaping fabric.
It is a plastic screen that is porous and then you lay the pebbles to a four inch dept
If you can use a compactor, the job would have better finish.
Good luck!
