Reverse a french drain

Question
By accident, an area next to a "slab" foundation began collecting water due to some trenching and rock that was deposited there during a construction project.  The effect of the collected water was wet and moldy adjacent indoor walls.  My thought was to dig out all the rock in this area and deposit it into a trenched area several feet away from the foundation (and at a lower elevation).  However, what do I do with the area next to the foundation that was dug out?  Fill with soil and compact it?  If so, what kind of soil?  Or, is there a better solution?  thanks.

Answer
David,

Would it be feasible to run the French drain from the foundation instead removing all of the rock?

If not, it sounds from your description of the project that you are on the right track.  I believe regular soil would be suitable if you remove the rock and get the water to drain away fromthe house.

Good luck

Gary
