QuestionI want to put in stone in a unused area on the side of the house, where there is now grass.
Do I need to remove the grass first?
AnswerI've seen it done both ways - my prefence is to remove the grass. A cutting machine is not too expensive to rent from a yard. When you put the stone down, be sure and use a weed barrier, if you decide to save money and not kill the grass, first. IF you are considering a retaining wall or heavy traffic on the stone, then you'll want to compact it before installation, too.
