QuestionGary,
I have a wooded lot and am trying to do landscaping on a house which has none. However, the woods have a lot of wild sassafras and carolina buckthorn trees, are these any good for landscaping? They appear to be doing well in very shady spots but are they worth transplanting to any place for the home's landscaping?
Thanks,
Maria
AnswerMaria,
While these are nice native plants, neither has any real value for the landscape. You could keep some of the sassafras for the unusual variations, but remove as many of the rhmanus as you can. These will produce fruit that will become a weedy mess.
Good luck
Gary
