QuestionI need help in designing the landscape for our new home in Port St Lucie, Florida. I would like to find something different than the typical Ixoria, Alamanda, Crepe Myrtles and Hibiscus that overwhelm the landscape in this area. Also I have a toddler so I need to make sure all the plants are non toxic.
We just planted Mona Lavenders inside of our partially sunned walkway.. in front of the walkway we have a Plumeria tree. Our front yard has two triangular plantings consisting of 3 Queen palm trees in each (one on each side of the front lawn). We would like to find a deep green, maybe glossy leaved, compact, hedging to dress up the front of our home (in front of the windows and blocking the view to our front door and walkway). I have read that it is most attractive to keep to only ONE color of flowers when doing your landscape. If this is true I would like to keep with colors in the purple family since our home is painted a sage green and it looks nice together. Plumbagos are nice but they seem messy and unkept. Low maint plants would be best for us. Also, inside of the triangular palm tree plantings we would like to either put some attractive plants, rocks or something to dress that area up.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. We are on a small budget so please keep that in mind as well, and we will be doing the landscaping ourselves. Possibly over a few intervals depending on the cost involved.
Thank you so much for your time and your advise.
Janine
AnswerJanine,
To be honest what you are asking is far beyond what we can do in this forum. You need a design consultant that can visit with you and your landscape. In this way you will be able to have a landscape plan that you will be able to implement in stages.
Good luck in the garden.
