QuestionHello Rebbeca,
I live in a mobile home park in southern Florida. Our neighbors living room window is right next to our dining room window which faces East. We have put up a plastic lattice as wide as the awning (8') and intend to plant Thunbergia Grandiflora. I have seen some and it looks to be hardy, attractive vine.
I'd like your thoughts on my plan.....vulnerabilities to pests, etc.
Thank you for your time.
Andrea
AnswerAndrea: Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you...I was out of town and out of touch! Your idea is excellent. The vine you suggest has no known pests, but if you find something is enjoying entirely too much of your efforts, make up a spray of 1 Tbls. liquid soap (not anit-bacterial) and 1 TBLS. ordinary cooking oil in one pint of water. That should scare off any chewing inscets. You vine does not like to dry out, but likes well drained soil. It will need pruning once it is established. Good luck.
