Removed retaining wall

Question
Hello,
My backyard is facing the back yard of my neighbors and since my yard is a little higher than theirs, there was a retaining wall made of wood. Recently they removed the wall and instead they put top soil and and planted couple of shrubs. I talked to people from the village and they said that this is totally fine  but my concern is erosion. My yard is a little steep and if i put a new fence , few years down the line , because of erosion the fence will start leaning. Is a top soil enough to keep my yard from eroding and go ahead and put new fence or ask them to build a better support and then put a new fence..
  Thank you very much...

Answer
It is hard to say what will happen. A lot depends on how far it is to the point where the wall was and your fence is. In addition the steepness of the slope will also be a factor. Unfortunately in this situation I really can't tell you anything for certian without photos. If you can post some shots of the fence and slope, I may be able to give you a more definitive answer.
Best of luck.
