QuestionHi Mark,
Planning on laying a flagstone pathway in my front yard. I'm really new to this type of project, but I've researched a lot, and figured I'd give it a shot.
Wonder if you could answer a few quick questions though. Is there a particular kind of size in terms of thickness that is ideal for a walking path? I see there are options for 1 inch or less, 1-2 inches, 2-3 or even 3-4.
Also, where to residential owners like me typically buy this stuff in bulk? Total square footage of the pathway is around 200 (50 feet x 4 feet). Figure I need at least 2 tons.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Josh
AnswerHello:
The thickness should be in between too thin and too thick. Too thin, such as 1 to 2 inches will not have the durability you seek and too thick, such as 3 to 4 inches will be too heavy to work with. So I would go with 2 to 3 inches.
Flagstone is available from the various landscape stone suppliers and quarries.
Good luck.
