QuestionI had two raised flowerbeds against exterior wall without weep holes which the previous owner built. I have a landscape company installed a weep hole (3/4?recommended) for each flower bed. The water/rain drains from holes, but my concern is now in the winter with snow and weep hole being clogged (snow and frozen). These raised flower beds are surrounded with concrete/stone veneer walls (about 8?from the dirt in the bed) and look like pond. Should I have more holes or bigger holes? What would be the best solution? Should I tear down raised flower bed? I have seen the evidence of crack, water stain, and bowed on the basement wall. Thanks.
AnswerAre these flower beds built on top of dirt or soil? Is so, you should not need any weep holes unless the soil is all clay and does not percolate.
If it is on concrete and has no gaps at the bottom then yes adding some holes about 3/4" would be good. One every 12-18" is good.
Hope that helps.
