PLANT A TREE OVER AN OLD TREE STUMP

Question
I LIVE IN MARYLAND AND HAD A CHERRY TREE REMOVED APPROXIMATE. 1YR AGO. I HAD THE STUMP GRIND DOWN 4" BELOW THE GROUND. I WOULD NOW LIKE TO PLANT A "TONTO" CREPE MYRTLE IN THE SAME SPOT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IT WILL GROW THERE? THANKS!

Answer
Hello:

You should remove the entire stump and plant the crape myrtle in good soil. The stump will impede its growth.
