Question
We live on a hill with an acre between us and the neighbors.  The neighbor's home is above us on the hill and a forest is between our house and theirs.  The problem we have is hearing the twenty or so 4 wheelers who come to ride every weekend on a track at their home.  The noise is so loud that our house shakes and our elementary school children cannot sleep.  The people ride from 8AM to 2AM every weekend.  We have called the police many times and are always told the same thing.  What do you suggest we do environmentally to stop or cease the noise coming from the vehicles?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  We live on family land and moving is just not an option, even though we have dreamt about it many times.  Thanks in advance.

I am sorry for the delay in responding!  I had responded previously but apparently my answer to you was lost in cyberspace.  

Unfortunately, there is not much you can do to clock that kind of noise organically.  A screening of very large evergreen may help, but will not make as significant difference given the decibel level you are describing.
