QuestionWe are building a 24 inch raised bed with the back side of the bed being against the brick on the house. The dirt line is above the floor level and I need to know what is the best way to keep the water from the dirt from seeping through the brick wall.
AnswerMatt:
Not to be sarcastic but the best way to ensure you don't cause serious damage to your home including water damage and mold is NOT to pile dirt against the house. It's not worth the chance and neither you nor I is qualified to properly waterproof this detail. I would suggest putting a board or back on your raised bed an leaving a gap of 2-3" between the house and board. Its simple to do and leaves no chance of causing water problems.
Good Luck
