walkway

Question
Hi, I want to have a curved 16 ft. walkway put in.  My house is a very small brick, ranch style house.  The brick is painted an off white color. (almost white) The walkway will lead from the driveway to the cement steps and cement stoop. As you can see, I am dealing with a lot of white.  My question is -- as long as my house is brick, what material would look good for the walkway?  Pavers, brick, flagstone? --  etc-- Also, what color should I go with?  Help!!!!!!!!!

Answer
I like these kinds of questions--ones asking for the art and creative parts of landscaping; not just the how-to!

I suggest two different options.  A natural, dark red brick (there are sooo many different styles and colors of brick, but just and rustic natural brick) OR natural Flagstone.  Definitely no to pavers.  They are more contemporary/modern and I don't think they'd flow.  Either the brick of the flagstone would contrast nicely.  And if you got the flagstone you could either go straight gray, or get the natural blends of gray/blue/red.  So long as you have a 2" gap between your front stoop and the door, you could also face the existing concrete porch with flagstone.  One final option is doing a flagstone walkway and border it with the red brick.

Hope that helps!  I really do not think pavers would go with the house though :)

Hope it turns out nicely!
