QuestionWe are building a field stone patio which faces northeast and gets morning sun and partial shade from the house in the afternoon. We are in zone 3 in northern vermont. I would like to plant something between the field stones which won't grow much higher than the field stone and be very resistant to weeds. We have some very low growing thyme in between some stones in another section of our yard and I'm not interested in using that because of the bees and the grass that still grows up between it. I am considering irish moss and am looking for some expert opinion on that choice.
Thank you.
AnswerHey, Susan.
I'm not that familiar with your weather in Zone 3 in Vermont, but if irish moss will grow there (and it probably will if you have thyme growing), it should be great. Also consider baby tears. Moss and tears are what I have always used in Louisiana, Texas, and California.
Hope that helps.
