Hi,  I didn't see any category that quite related to my question but perhaps you can direct me. I'm purchasing 6 acres in California in an area that probably will get down to about 20 degrees in the winter.  I'm looking at putting in a greenhouse to grow vegetables year-round.  Maybe even a small tree.  This is a new area to me and I'm sure there must be a lot of technical know-how on greenhouse construction, how to maintain temperatures, automating irrigation, etc..  This will not be a do-it-yourself project.  I want to hire someone who knows what can and cannot be done and can set it up at a professional level.  I'm having trouble finding such a person.  There's lots of websites for greenhouse manufacturers and there are websites for greenhouse controllers, irrigation controllers, etc., but I'm having trouble finding a contractor (ideally in the Southern California area) that specializes in greenhouse design and construction.   Any recommendations?  Thanks.  Bob

Hi Bob, thanks for contacting me.

Ok, I am actually based in Italy right now and I am English but I do have some contacts in the States. Frankly, to build a greenhouse, you don't really need to know so much 'technical stuff', it can be a steel, brick, Iron or wood construction and just needs glass as a surround. I'm sure that a standard builder has the 'know how' and contacts to organize such a construction.

I, instead, can guide you through the 'technical stuff, as I have been a garden designer for many years. Regarding the contractor, let's just see if you can get the builder and we can go from there.

Try looking under conservatory installers, as that is what you need ... an adaptation on the classic 'orangery' that was the original greenhouse.
