QuestionHey Sean! I have finally decided on using landscape stones instead of mulch to dress up my landscaping. However, I'm am wondering if you would know the most inexpensive way to do this. How do I estimate how many rocks I need? I would like to do the entire perimeter of my home as well as some 'island' areas in front and around my shed. Please help!
AnswerThe cheapest way would be to get free rock and do it all yourself. You may have access to a local creek on some friends property or maybe a old gravel pit where you can bag your own rock for free. Other than that the price will depend greatly on your stone selection.
As for how much that depends greatly on what type of rock you like also. Call your local stone or earth products supplier and ask what the coverage is in square feet for the type of rock that you like. Then just figure out how many square feet you need and purchase.
Install with wheel barrel and a shovel.
Good Luck.
