reclaimed/used clay brick patio - seal or rip out?

Question
I have a newly installed patio and walkways made of reclaimed old clay
bricks, and I live in Massachusetts.  The landscaper did not know he should
not have used this material, as it gets pulverized throughout the freeze/thaw
cycles in winter.  Is it worth trying a sealer to save all the work that's been
done, or do we give up and use an appropriate material?  We love how it looks
and would like to save it.  Please help!  Many thanks.

Answer
well I'ld say what's done is done. Seal the tops and the joints as much as possible, use polymeric sand for any joint replacement. And maybe you'll get a few good years out of it. It doesn't cost you anything to leave it right? And sealing it will be fairly inexpensive...if you do it yourself or make him do it. Note some clay is rated for ground contact...high fired dense clay will be fine in freezing. Do you know for sure the kind you have is the wrong kind? (most old brick is). IF you decide to replace search "clay pavers" in quotes to find suitable brick pavers that will never fade like concrete typically does.
Best of Luck
