QuestionI live on a very steep hill with great views of the Smokey Mountains, problem is the only yard I have is about 20ft. around my house that they leveled for the house, Two months ago we started moving dirt from the back to the front yard to build the front up, it seems to be going fine with that part I just don't know what to do at the bottom where it is about 5ft. of a steep incline, I don't want grass to mow so I thought maybe placing so flat rock and bushes, and mulch around them but I don't know if this is enough to hold back the erosion. What do you think?
AnswerDepends on the amount of rain. But a good layer of mulch combined with plants that will eventually coalesce into a mass covering most of the soil will typically do the trick. Some people in mountain areas will use rocks like mulch and plant shrubs etc between them also.
But fields of rocks attract scorpions and snakes when they get warm.
Best of Luck
