QuestionRussel,
First thanks for your time.
I am leveling an area and wanting to lay down like an astro-turf (AT) sort of material. Area is about 30ft x 30ft.
I want to do so because I live WAY out in the country and the ground is bad, no grass all dirt, nearly zero trees and plants. I was thinking with AT it will keep them clean and I can spray off pee and poo. I priced sod but fear it will die.
Do you have any suggestions? Money is an issue, any advice you can give me would be great.
Thank you very much!
Chris
AnswerHey, Chris.
I guess it really depends on the look you want to achieve, the budget you have, your planned use for the area, and maintenance.
There is some grass that is drought tolerant that you might look into.
If I were in your situation, though, I would create some a cactus/succulent/native plant landscape that also includes some walking paths and some dry creek beds.
There are some outdoor "carpets" like AstroTurf and other things.
The least expensive will probably be the AstroTurf/similar route.
Hope that helps.
Russel
