Pool Deck
The concrete/Kool-deck around my inground (vinyl) pool has be removed and replaced. I would like to replace deck with pavers, but worry about them being to hot. Also considering having a 3' wide area around pool done in kool-deck and the remainder of area done in pavers. Have you seen this done and how does it look? Thank you for you time and expertise.

AnswerI have not seen this done but as a designer I have my reservations as to how this would look. Pavers are fine for pool decks as long as you stay light in color. It is all about the color and texture. The smoother and darker surfaces are the hotter they get. Thats why new black asphalt gets so hot. But tumbled light tan or light gray pavers with lots of surface imperfections will allow some air to be between your feet and the surface and be reasonably comfortable.
