QuestionWe have a small area about the lenght and width of a standard porch deck in our yard where the kids shoot hoops. We are considering having in leveled off and blacktopped. The area is currently a bald dirt patch; pretty unattractive because of the ball bouncing. How would this project effect the health of our lawn, the value of our property and is there another option for a playing surface more econmically feasible than blacktop.
AnswerAdding a court or playing area that is hard surface would not adversely affect your lawn. It is not likely that this would add any value to your home unless it was a top of the line professional court. Something like "Sport Court" (google it).
"Blacktop" is a common name describing many things. You can do plain concrete the cheapest for a small area and it can be colored as desired.
Hope it works out well.
Good Luck,
