Question
I am looking for someone who can custom build a metal door for a root cellar. I would like one like Bilco builds. Bilco does not build a door to fit my opening. Do you know someone around Michigan who does this or a way I can find out. Multiple web searches only came up with one company and they are so far away that it will cost me $300.00 for shipping.

Michigan is a big state, with 10 million folks, and 300+ miles from Adrian to Keweenaw Penninsula.  Hard to believe there isn't a manufacturer in Detroit, Grand Rapids, or Warren that can help you out...I would try refining the search at Google for your door, by including your county or community name in the search (if you live in a larger community).  I don't know any "off the top of my head".

With 83 counties in MI, something near you should come up.  If you are looking for a pre-fabricated door, it actually may be a little tougher than having a local fabrication company just build you one out of steel or aluminum.

My suggestion would be to "fine tune" the search OR get on the phone with a local door company that may have a supplier that isn't on the web.
