QuestionMr. Persaud,
How do you repair a Floratam / St. Augustine lawn damaged
by 2,4 D ?
Does the entire lawn need to be replaced or just the brown areas ?
50 % is still green after 1 week.
Should I consider a different type of grass ?
I live in central Florida 40 miles NNE of Orlando.
Many thanks in advance for your time.

Answer No easy answer. 2.4D is usually a death sentence on St.Augustine grass.
If it was a granular product, you can expect to see the damage increase in size because a granular product acts more slowly.
If it was applied in liquid form, there is hope the chemical is almost all taken up.
I would wait for at least three weeks before assessing what needs to be replaced.
I would wait until next year if you plan to use a grass that grows from seed. 2.4D inhibits seed germination.
You have a choice of St. Augustine, Bermuda, zoysia, all of which are grown by sod or plugs.
Then there is Bahia which is grown from seed.
Rye is grown from seed but only during the "winter" months.
Each one requires its own special conditions and culture. Study them carefully before deciding.
