QuestionWe planted a sissou tree a few years ago. The roots started tearing up our block fence, so we had the tree professionally removed. Although they did dig out the big main root about 3 feet down, some of the roots remained and are continuing to cause havoc in our lawn.
The fence is still at risk, and I am now getting many little starts in our lawn. I have tried putting Round Up on the starts, which does kill them, but new ones appear every day. How do I get rid of this problem once and for all?
Answer Persistence is the answer. You have to prevent the leaves from getting large enough to function effectively. This probably means spraying Round® Up every 7 days or so. Be especially diligent during the fall; because that is the season when perennial plants store nutrients in their root system.
You want the Round Up® to be a large part of that storage.
