QuestionEvery year my grass browns out in the same area as seen in the photo, but more recently it is spreading. It does not seem that this is due to being too dry as the surrounding grass is healthy. We use all of the seasonal fertilizers, weed and insect control. Additionally in the Fall we add top soil and reseed. The grass looks great until July. Please help. Thank you.
Answer It has been a localized problem. Is the area significantly higher? (It will stress out in dry weather); or is it lower in elevation? (It will stress out during wet weather).
If neither, could something be accumulating on the area over time? You did say that the ares is getting larger!
Have a soil analysis done. If the pH reading is lower than 5.0 and there are significant quantities of things like iron and aluminium in the soil, then the grass may be taking up toxic amounts of these elements.
