QuestionYears ago I was given a recipe that helped to either get rid of the grubs in my lawn or deter whatever was digging up my lawn (to get to whatever grubs were in my lawn). I believer it also helped to deter weeds from growing also.
The recipe consisted of mixing, water with ammonia, with some dish detergent. It was then put in a garden sprayer, with the hose attached, it was sprayed on my lawn. It left a shine on the lawn (I assume from the dish detergent) and made the lawn very green and lush. I don't know what the amount of ammonia or dish detergent was to be used or if anything else was added (that I had in my cabinet) and unfortunately the person that I thought gave me this information is unaware of what I am talking about. I guess the older we get , the more we forget. LOL.
Please let me know if you have heard of this or are aware of what the amounts to use should be. It was a very simple mixture and worked great.
Thanks.

Answer You will find one of many such recipes HERE; not that I am endorsing any of them.
Effective grub control is very tricky. You have to accurately identify the grub in order to know its life cycle. Its life cycle will give you the essential clues as to how to achieve control.
