QuestionI recently adopted a dog and one thing I noticed last summer was that her urine killed the grass. Eventually I had lots of circular patches of dead grass in the back yard. My understanding is that the dog's urine is actually a strong fertilizer, too strong, and it kills the grass in the immediate area. Surrounding grass actually grew taller and greener though!
Anyway, this spring I want to put down grass seed to replace all the dead patches. Is there a particular type I can put down that will be more likely to survive?

I would suggest you take a look at turf grass. Turf grasses can help withstand your pet waste because they tend to be tougher and more resilient. If you are going to look into this, please keep in mind that not all turf grasses may be suitable for your region/climate, so be sure to choose something that is not only able to withstand your dog, but something that can thrive in your region's weather conditions.
I can't promise you that turf grass will always withstand your pet's waste, but I can definitely suggest it for its strength and resilience.
I hope this helped!
Best of luck,
Steve
