QuestionI have an area of my lawn which retains water for much of the year. I have airated the area and brushed in coarse sand to no avail. I also have re-turfed the area.
Because of this the area is very sparcely covered with grass.
Can you recommend a water loving variety of grass seed or give me advice of how I can treat the area.
Answer It seems that there is a low area on your lawn. What puzzles me is that it looks as if the water table is close to the surface. This would explain why one area stays wet during some periods of the year. I will bet that it coincides with the rainy season. You can find out by making a post hole dig to see where the water table is. If it is that close to the surface then the best plan is to bring up the level of the low area to the level of surrounding higher ground.
