QuestionI live on a lake in Ohio. I just moved in and the previous owner was using fertilizer 7 times a year on the lawn. Being next to the lake, I know the run off is bad for the lake. I would like to find an alternative way off treating maintaining my lawn, understanding that this will not happen over night. What would you suggest?
Answer Contact the Extension office in the county in which you live and they will set you on a program for what you want to do.
Be prepared for significantly different ways of taking care of the lawn. Do not blank out the use of synthetic products. Sometimes it is necessary to apply products to nourish the bacteria.
If I may offer a one-word description of the approach, it is "Holistic".
I am sure that you will find this new lawn care very, very adsorbing.
