Chinch Bugs & Weeds

Question
Hi,
Just put in some sod about 2 months ago (backyard). Now all is turning brown and I know most of the yard if not all is getting enough water. I am thinking it's chinch bugs b/c I can see them in certain areas. What is best to do and get my lawn green again b4 losing it.

I have tried sugar on my dollarweed (frontyard) and other weeds, but sugar did not work. I may have not put enough, but I did try it about 3 weeks ago.

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
If you can see the chinch bugs, urgent control is required. The "Talstar" formulation of Bifenthrin is a very effective product. If you prefer granules, products containing "Fiprinol" are quite good.
I cannot comment on sugar as a weed control product. Dollar weed thrives in moist conditions. Atrazine (watch the temperature warning) is fairly effective if the sod is St. Augustine.
