Question
I live in Vacaville CA. Temp 80-110 D/F. Problem Delta winds (10-45 mph). A lot of water is wasted using normal auto system. Can I use a Soaker System like used in gardens? If so, what type of pattern should I consider.

Soaker systems exist and I freely confess that I have not kept up to date with current practice.
I recall that the system had to be put in before sodding, that the design was a feeder pipe along one edge of the lawn; from this pipe small bore soaker tubing was run at right angles and the spacing was comparatively close (12"?). The duration time was lengthy and the interval between irrigations was one week. The major problem was that grass roots invaded the tubing. Indeed, the system was abandoned because of this problem within a year.
 Thanks for bringing this gap in my knowledge to my attention. Now the problem is what to do about it.
