Brown grass in the same spot as before

Question
I guess I will start out with some back info on our lawn, we moved into our townhouse in Pitt Meadows B.C. 2 years ago and the grass was nice, its a VERY small yard about 120 sqft.  I don抰 think the previous owners had a dog but we have a lab, and the next summer we started to notice the grass was starting to get brown patches and they kept getting bigger.  There was one really big one in the middle and a few smaller ones around it that all kept growing till it almost killed off the whole yard. At that point we didn抰 care because we only used the yard as the dogs bathroom.  We did end up putting grass seeds down but that didn抰 work to well.  So this summer we wanted to redo the yard so we dug out the few patches of grass that were left and then turned up all the dirt in the yard.  We put down this vitamin stuff (it looked like little rocks) that home depot recommended then we laid down new sod (it was just delivered that morning) we did all this Saturday June 13/09.  We water it every night for about 20 min (I have just read that you aren't suppose to water at night though.) We have a lawn person that comes every Tuesday and he saw we put the new lawn down so he didn抰 come in to cut it.  He still hasn抰 come in to cut it yet and I don抰 know why he keeps skipping our yard, the good grass is about 8 inches now.  But soon after we laid down the new grass it started to get the brown patches in the exact same spots as before and its getting bad it looks like flattened down hay.  Its now July 6/09.  Yes I know its only been 3 weeks since we put it in but it doesn抰 look like it can recover from this, you can see its getting worse every day the middle part is about 2 to 3 feet wide already.  We didn抰 lay down a fertilizer, which we probably should have.  I have read it抯 probably some kind of fungus?? But we turned the dirt over.  Please help, I'm guessing we have to buy more sod but we really don抰 want to have to re do the whole yard and spend another $60 on it, which we don抰 have.

does this stuff work or is there anything you can recommend doing?
Spectracide Immunox?Multi-Purpose Fungicide

I can also send pictures if it helps

Answer
I do not think that the previous problem is showing up in the new sod; it is too early; the sod is probably just rooting in.
For a start, check how well the sod is rooting in by gently lifting individual pieces at random. All the pieces should be well rooted in before the turf is mowed for the first time otherwise a commercial lawn mower is liable to uproot them. The mowing contractor is probably checking this very same thing before he brings in his machine. Talk to him about your concerns.
If you cannot water the lawn in the morning, then water later but allow enough time for all free standing water on grass blades and ground areas to be dried away by the sun. You are inviting fungus problems by allowing droplets of water to hang around after the sun has set. By this time you should be scaling back on watering.
I do believe that a fungus has set in and the product you mentioned is very effective against rust diseases. It can contain the condition on your turf but it should be re applied every 7 days if the label allows it.
Finally, the pieces which have turned brown will not recover. You will have to resod the patches or sow seeds if it is a seeding grass.
