New Lawn.

Question
Hi there. So my fiance and I have been trying to grow grass in our Philadelphia side lot for our wedding. We started with EZ seed, which was growing great, until this past week when we noticed that different spots of grass were wilting (looked like someone had smashed them down) and then started to turn brown. We've been cautious with water, not too much or too little, and we've had it covered with this netting to keep the cats and birds off. But we're worried that we're going to have brown grass spots for the wedding.

Matt just got this new Ironite for the grass, but I'm worried that it will be too much since we already have some starter fertilizer down and whatever they put inside the EZ seed.

So my main questions are... Should we just look into over-seeding the bare spots and can we spray this Ironite on the new grass seed in addition to the starter fertilizer?

Also. The wedding is now 2 months away... Do you think we can make it all green again??

Thanks so much!

Answer
Hi Kate,

Wow, this is a bit tough. I apologize for the late response. My own lawn business has been pretty hectic lately and I've been a bit lax on getting back to people here.

Honestly, any grass area will consistently have issues and problems as the season moves on. You may get this one under control, only to get blindsided by another in a few weeks. Without an on-site inspection, I'd have a very hard time telling you what's going on. There are simply too many variables. So, that leads me to my final recommendation.

Hire a professional for the next few months.

Ask around as to who is recommended by friends as reliable and competent. This is your wedding coming up, and you want it to look nice. If you aren't experienced in this area yourself, you want someone who is. Trust me when I say that there are just too many issues that can pop up, and my remote diagnosis via AllExperts will always be questionable since I can't look at it. The money you spend on a local professional should be money well spent toward creating the perfect day.

Good luck with the lawn, and more importantly, good luck with the wedding!
