Dry hay patches

Question
I live in the North East and we have had alot of rain lately.  So I am confused as to why I have what look like burnt grass.  I don't believe that it is pink or red in color at all.  My fertilizing company has been making application and it has rained with in 5hrs of the application.  I mentioned to them that this may be burning the grass but say no, that I have red thread.  What is the right answer and/or what else could it be?
Thank you.

Answer
Now definitely is the season for Red Thread, so it is a distinct possibility.

Raining shortly after a fertilizing application will have only positive effects. It would not cause the fertilizer to burn in any way, shape, or form. It will only water it down to the soil where the roots can use it.

With Red Thread, usually a little extra fertilizer will help it grow out.

Good luck!
