QuestionI'm trying to fill in some bare spots in my bahia lawn. I was told by someone that placing newspapers on the bare spot prior to seeding and adding a top layer of soil would expedite germination. Does that ring true to you?
Answer Germination requires: darkness or the absence of light, adequate moisture, a suitable temperature range. Anything you can do to make these conditions right will be greatly appreciated by the plant. It certainly rings true to me that newspapers will retain moisture and serve as a weed stop.
