QuestionI live in upper Illinois. I have 30,000 sq.ft. lawn. I fertlize 3 times a year and it is iggrated. I`m looking for a solution to my annual blue grass problem.
Will appreciate any help you give. Thanks!
AnswerIn my opinion, picking a fight with Annual Bluegrass would be like playing one-on-one basketball with Michael Jordan in his prime. Sure it may be fun to try, but there's just not much chance of winning. Even when clients are willing to pay me to take on the challenge, I decline and tell them not to waste their money.
Annual Bluegrass isn't an ideal species, but it's not all that bad either. The only problem is when it seeds in the Spring, and ends up looking like weeds to the untrained eye. Once those seeds drop though, it pretty quickly goes back to looking like regular lawn for the rest of the season.
My advice is to just live with it and avert your eyes for those seeding weeks in the spring.
Take care Mike. Thanks for writing in.
