QuestionI live in South Texas, about 45miles from Galveston. I've notice dark circular spots on my grass this AM, then when I got off work the spots turned grayish. It looks oily almost and it's not on the whole lawn, just front portion, close to the house, please help.
Answer First, rule out some other cause like fluid spill, from a vehicle which may have been parked in the area. The symptoms sound like a fungus disease. I expect the next stage to be that the grass feels slimy and pulls away easily in tufts. Have it confirmed by the County Extension staff and ask their recommendations for control. It will most likely be a chemical and they will know about any regulations governing its application.
