QuestionCrabgrass took over a portion of my yard this past year, so I tilled it all up and re-seeded this past month. It is up pretty well now, although I haven't mowed it. How soon should I use weed killer and crabgrass killer? I see that some of it is beginng to show. What about rain? Thanks, Ricky
AnswerHi Ricky,
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the tilling and re-seeding should have been done last fall. Now, you will very likely end up with a lot of crabgrass again this season.
Wait until the grass has been mowed a few times, then apply the weed and crabgrass stuff. Let's see how it goes this year. If you end up with a lot of crabgrass, then plan on killing it off in September, tilling and reseeding. Next year, you'll be starting with a great lawn and you can put a preventer on.
Good luck my friend!
