I have been battling violets in my lawn for years and this Spring they are getting the best of me. Any ideas to get rid of them once and for all?

Ouch, that's always a tough one. My experience has been that over the counter stuff just doesn't work. You'll want to contract with a professional on this, at least for this season. Just make it crystal clear that the violets are your main concern, and that you'll pay when progress is made. That may sound harsh, but I have run into many instances where the lawn company sales reps don't actually know the difficulties involved, and they fail to properly notify the technicians, etc. If you stress the importance, they'll be more likely to pass the word along to the guys that know what to do.
