QuestionWe are getting hydro-seeding by the begining of May. Currently, we have no grass, just topsoil because we are new construction. Do you have any recommendations we can do before it is spread and after it is laid? Our soil is horrible, its rocky and clay. Our neighbors had trouble keeping their lawn respectable. Any imput is appreciated. Thanks
Answer Ask the hydroseeding Company for their input. Generally you should try to make a seed bed. Remove as much of the rocks as is possible. Rototill the area if you can. Watering in the weeks following seeding is of critical importance. You do not want large drops of water which will tend to bounce around the grass seeds and you do not want to create runoff which will wash away the seeds.
