white grub problem

Question
I live in Quebec -Canada my gras was destroyed by white grub. Do you recomaned any specific type of greass more resistanc against this bugs some people suggest to seed clover together with grass also I heard that is some type of grass that need to be cut once and during the summmer does not grow . Please give me more tips on this subject ( to save your time ) please skip history of evolution of white grub, I would like to know more how and what I can do to fight against this bug .Thank you fo your time.Sincerely, Greg

Answer
No grasses are completely resistant, but getting a variety of grasses will help, as certain types of grubs prefer certain types of grasses. This way, whatever grub is infesting your lawn will not eat the entire lawn, just the species it likes.

The other option is to aerate and topdress with some good leaf compost. It does wonders for the health of the grass and soil, and grubs apparently don't like the organic matter too much. It could be a good way to improve the health of the grass while making the area less appealing to grubs.

Here's a link to a video that I did that kind of shows you what I'm talking about, though I don't mention grubs in the video. Also, we're just in Connecticut, so I didn't want you to think that I was trying to sell you something.

The final option is to use chemical control, but I don't know what the towns allow in your area of Quebec.  There are some pretty simple ones that work very well if used correctly.

Good luck my friend!
