QuestionHi Ronald
About a year ago we put down turf called conquest. It is a self mulching turf and is very messy. We are on sandy soil close to the beach and have been told Sir Walter Buffallo is better for this type of soil. If we scatter seed of this variety over the existing lawn will it eventually take over?
Thanks
Jeanette
Answer I cannot answer your answer your question specifically because I am unfamiliar with the grass itself and the climate in the area where you might live. Here is a site which has some useful information.

Seeds need contact with the soil, watering to enable germination and a programme of watering to ensure proper establishment of the fragile seedlings.
You say that you are close to the beach; any grass you choose must have some salt tolerance.
