QuestionHi CJ, every spring I get all these different types of weeds growing in my front and backyards. How do I stop them from coming back year after year with so little effort and money. I live in Louisiana. Also, how can I make my grass to grow thicker (carpet like) and stay green even during winter time. I have a combination of Centipede and St. Augustine grass (not my choice) I inherited it when we bought the house 15 years ago. I can do one or the other without re-sodding
Thanks
AnswerWeeds are persistent and will keep coming back. You'll just need to make it more of an annual project. Sorry about that. Just go and talk to a local garden center guy about what specific product would be best for your area.
The Centipede and St. Augustine may not be your favorites, but they are well suited to the Louisiana climate. If you really want to make a big change, it will take a lot of effort and money to kill off the existing lawn, and replant with something different. I wouldn't recommend it, but that's your call. In my opinion, I'd stick with what you have, and just treat the weeds each Spring.
Good luck!
