QuestionHi,
We had a new septic field put in last fall (Michigan)and a good portion of the backyard is bare. My question is what would be the best way to prep and the proper seed to get the fastest results? The kids and animals use it daily!!!!!
Thanks for your help.
AnswerWell, it should go without saying that for the grass to grow, the kids and pets will need to give it a break. The seed won't grow if it's getting trampled and torn.
Basically, a good blend of seed needs to be tilled into the top 1/2 inch of the soil or so. Then, you can spread some hay lightly overtop (though that isn't necessarily critical).
The 2 BIG keys though are 1) water daily and 2) keep the traffic off the grass.
If you allow the grass to grow and you keep it wet. It should come in nicely.
Good luck!
