bermuda

Question
I have bermuda grass that was sodded two years ago by the people that built my home. I hate bermuda. I am really wanting a different grass without having to go through the trouble of killing the bermuda, and then re-sodding. I was going to plug Palmetto Augustine or a zoysia grass. I live in Fort Worth, Texas. My question is will the Palmetto over take the Bermuda in time? I have some trees in the front and back, but they are not mature yet. Right now, my entire yard gets alot of sun. What are your thoughts.

Answer
I think that in order to actually get rid of the Bermuda, you'll need to do exactly as you dreaded. It's very persistent, tough stuff, and it will not likely be taken over by anything else you plant unless it is gone first. The other grasses will probably establish themselves and hang in there, but they won't overtake the Bermudagrass.
