QuestionI just laid 1000 SF of centipede sod. I understand that I need to keep it watered twice a day for a couple of weeks, but what about fertilizer? When and how much?
Carl
AnswerOnce the grass has taken root, a single fertilizer application is usually good for the whole year. I'd recommend an all organic fertilizer, at about 1/2 lb of nitrogen per 1000 square feet.
Centipede is very low maintenance and does not do well when you try to push it. Additional fertilizer would actually be detrimental. Just give it that one feeding each year, keep it watered when the weather's really dry, and mow when needed. That'll about do it!
Good luck Carl!
